As our family has continued to receive all of your support and prayers, we wanted to update you on John's progress. We returned to the Mayo Clinic several weeks ago and were saddened to learn that the treatments John underwent this past fall were unsuccessful in treating his condition. Through vigorous testing the doctors presented John with a probable and working diagnosis of ALS. Due to the very nature of this condition there is not much else that they could tell us. We know the statistics and the averages that are associated with ALS, but we also know that John is not the average patient. He is young, active, and a fighter above all else. We refuse to give up and have adopted a philosophy that the diagnosis does not mean the end, it is simply a challenge for us to overcome. John and our family continue to live our lives to the fullest and enjoy every moment with our son, Gus, who gives us the strength to face this head on.
Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts as we go forward.
All our love,
John, Tessie & Gus

The importance of playing 'out of position'
by MU webmaster | Wed, 02/17/2010 - 8:57amBy Alex Kos : Youth Soccer Insider A friend reminded me the other day of an old soccer saying. It goes something like, “Good forwards make the best defenders and good defenders make the best forwards.” There is a lot of truth to this saying. Any good forward is always trying to figure out how to get the upper-hand on the defense.
Player development guidelines
The following guidelines and age group competencies have been established by Minneapolis United to help our coaches and trainers focus on the teaching that we think will best provide individual development of our young soccer players.
